Officers find knife in stop and search

We have found a knife after stopping a teenage boy in Codsall following concerns from local people.

It was reported at about 4pm yesterday (Tuesday 8 July) when someone told us that a teenage boy had brandished a knife on Watery Lane.

Officers went there and stopped a suspect matching the description. When he was searched, a knife was found and seized.

Sergeant Alexander Lloyd-Davies, from the south Staffordshire local policing team, said: “We’re continuing to tackle knife crime and other community priorities as robustly as possible across Staffordshire.

“As part of our routine patrols and hotspot targeting, we’ve got officers working proactively every single day on our streets to proactively investigate crime and to focus on the issues that people care about the most, including anti-social behaviour, serious violence and knife crime.”

We’ve been taking a #problemsolvingpolicing approach to these concerns recently and have been deploying officers on the beat to engage with people more closely.
